Late November grazing and November Snow

We were saving Pond Meadow for late season grazing, because it stayed green later than anywhere else on the property. The sheep were gobbling it up.

November 23, 2013: First significant snow. Sheep were frolicking in it.

Silly sheep jumping around having fun in the snow, butting heads, and other past-times.

Some past pictures that fell through the cracks

Here are a bunch of photos from earlier in the summer that we found...

This is "Boggy Bottoms" after June's heavy rains.

Rye Field around July, A doe and her two fawns are just visible at the wood's edge

The sheep were finishing up the graze in the security paddock by the end of August and we were planning on moving them into Switchgrass field in the background. But the Doe and her two fawns were taking first dibs.

Pond Meadow was very lush during the summer and it smelled like a mint tea with all of the wild herbs growing there.

I found a tree frog in Switchgrass field! I had no idea they lived around here.

The tree frog was just a bit bigger than the size of my thumbnail.

A beautiful rainbow appears above the canopy after some August showers.

A red sunset in September from the top of the hill.

This is our rain collection system, it watered our sheep all summer and fall.

Fescue and Rye grass starting to sprout nicely along the future fence line.

More fescue sprouting in the front lot. You can also see our gravel drive, installed around July 15.

We got our Posted signs up. Insurance company dictated that.

By September or October the sheep had eaten through all the pastures we had prepared, so we set them loose on the thickets to browse. They seemed to like it a lot.

The sheep grabbing some shade during the hottest part of the day.

The lambs are starting to get some condition on 'em!
